Education about Biodynamic Agriculture

Casa Maya is proudly presenting the Director of the Rudolf Steiner Institute, Dijana Posavec! On March 14th she will be giving an inspiring lecture on biodynamic agriculture — and bringing along land dynamizing potions — making this a truly unique opportunity to come experience something special at Casa Maya!

Biodynamic agriculture is a holistic, ecological, and regenerative way of farming that views the farm as a self‑sustaining living ecosystem where soil, plants, animals, and people work together in balance. It builds on organic principles by avoiding synthetic chemicals and instead emphasizes soil health, biodiversity, and the use of specially formulated biodynamic preparations to support the land’s vitality. Biodynamic farmers often follow lunar and celestial rhythms and planting calendars to guide key tasks like sowing, cultivating, and harvesting. This approach aims to strengthen natural processes, encourage rich ecosystems, and produce nutritious food while enhancing long‑term environmental stewardship and resilience of the whole farm organism.

Rudolf Steiner (born February 25, 1861 in what is now Croatia; died March 30, 1925) was an Austrian philosopher, scientist, social reformer, and spiritual thinker renowned for his holistic worldview. He is best known as the founder of Anthroposophy, a spiritual‑scientific movement that sought to unite material and spiritual knowledge and apply this integration across culture, education, medicine, the arts, and society. Steiner pioneered the Waldorf education approach, emphasizing creativity, imagination, and the development of the whole child. In 1924 he delivered a series of lectures that laid the foundation for biodynamic agriculture, a regenerative farming method that views the farm as a self‑sustaining organism and focuses on soil fertility, biodiversity, and ecological balance. Through these agricultural teachings and his broader philosophical work, Steiner’s ideas have influenced sustainable farming practices and holistic approaches around the world.
